A few words…

I have some opinions about browsers and web sites and thought why not share them. These are just a few of many complaint’s regarding browsers and web sites. There are the few functions built into browsers that are also incorporated into some web sites. The three that come to mind when I think about their implementation with a web site are:

  • text resizing
  • printing and
  • book marking

A couple months back I expressed my opinions about text resizer’s, so I will not repeat those thoughts here. I will just say users can resize the text using their browser. I think, print/printer Friendly links are completely unnecessary, since the toolbar in a browser is sort of like a toolbar in MS Word, the world’s most popular word processing software, where under file you will find the print function.

Bookmaking is also something I think is not necessary. I figure by know people know how to bookmark a favorite.

There are a few things that I do not like about the way some people lay out forms. I appreciate the drop drown for my birth month, but I can get through the form faster if I could just type my birthday and year. I am only talking seconds of time lost, but time lost is time lost regardless of the amount. Phone number, I would like to be able to just type it out and not have to fill out three separate fields(area code, prefix and line number).

I like hover states on links, I know that the cursor will turn into a had when over a link, but I still think there needs to be more of a visual affect.

RSS feeds should be available in full text and nothing else. I do not want to visit your site every time you publish new content. If I decided to do so let me do it on my own, do not force me to go there just to finish reading new content.

I could think of more, many more but I am tired of fussing over stuff that, I am sure, many have fussed over before myself. Do you have any? Let me hear you, especially if you see something on my site, so that I can correct it. LOL!

    Yep, yep, yep, agree on all points.

    Know what else is annoying? Displaying email addresses instead of contact forms! If you want me to contact you, give me a simple form to fill out, don't make me open up Gmail.
