The N-word & social networks

I honestly can not recall what made me do this, but a couple of nights ago, for some reason, I decided to see what comes up when you run a search on the word “Nigger” on Facebook. Now to be honest I was not shocked to because of the heartless things that I have read about or saw on news post 1990, but because of my own personal experiences with racism.

Any who, take a look at what I found for those of you with a facebook account and those without a facebook account. Those of you with out a facebook account will probably just see a couple of profile listed where the name contains that word. Those of you with a facebook account should see results that exceed 500 people, 488 groups and 13 events that contain that word.

Obviously, there are hate groups all around us that hate based on race, sex, religion, etc. There are only two types of names/groups associated with that word that kind make me go hmmm.

The groups where apparently some person that is not black has a friend or love interest that is black and their “friends” apparently want to be their god and tell them who they should befriend or love. What kind of friend is that I asked myself. I know a total TOOL that’s what kind.

Then there is the coupe de poop(yeah I made that up) there are the people, black people, that choose to start a group and say that I am not that word. Yes, you are not that word, but you’re associating yourself with that word by starting/joining a group with that word in the title or as the subject of the group. Going out of your way to let it be known that you are not something, in my opinion, seems far less effective than just ignoring the fact that you are being called something that you know you are not.

Oh and this word shows up on Myspace too. So there you have it black people that I know that think that racism is dead. Dang softheads.

Racism is not acceptable and black people, just because you are black doesn’t make it ok for you to use the n–word. Terms of Endearment was a movie.
