2001 meet 1984
Wednesday, October 11th, 2006
I read this book in the 6/7th grade, if I recall correctly. I thought to myself, this could happen I could see the future being just like this book. However I at first I chose to suppress the thought, heck this is the land of the free the home of the brave. This conversation with myself took another turn, wait, remember what your race was subjected to, slavery. Not that I forgot about slavery, but if a system was put in place to control a race of people, what’s stopping a system being put in place to control a nation.
Well, as I think about the present state of the nation now all I can say is, 2001 is not that far off from 1984. I’m saying 2001 because that’s when three key phrases, thoughts, ideas, how ever you want to categorize them, of the book come full circle with life as the way I see it today. They are:
- Ignorance is strength
- War is peace
- Freedom is Slavery
Public schools and libraries have restricted the availability of certain subject matters. We are in Iraqi fighting for peace here at home. Every book we borrow from the library, video we rent, types of cars we buy, etc. are all accessible by the via a computer. Oh, don’t forget the phone taps and camera’s on the street corners.
Check out more on 1984.
I’m apologize, I made that stuff up, ofcourse big brother is not watching us…
